Not only does she provide solid, reliable information and practical guidance, but she do so in a deeply empathetic and patient way. Her thoroughness helps others better understand their finances and gain greater empowerment."

"Alexis is an excellent instructor who goes out of her way to ensure a good learning experience. I’ve taken other financial education classes, but this class has a wider focus and breadth of information than the ones I’ve taken in the past. Most importantly, this class empowered me to be more active and proactive in my finances."

"I took Alexis’ financial independence class because I hope to retire in the next 7-10 years. Through the exercises of the class, it forced me to determine what my monthly expenses are and how much assets I have. Alexis presented calculations to show us how much money we need to retire and she explained how money can grow through the years if you put it in the right places. Alexis’ made me very comfortable asking any questions I had, even though it may have been silly. She explained the often confusing financial terms in a way that I could understand, which I think is her greatest strength. I recommend her class to anyone who is looking to be more financially savvy."

"I had a pretty solid understanding of how to save for retirement, but I didn't have any idea how to evaluate whether I'd saved enough money to retire, how to predict my retirement expenses, or even how to start figuring those questions out without feeling overwhelmed. In addition to giving me concrete ways to evaluate whether my savings are sufficient, the Retirement Bootcamp course helped me think critically about those metrics and whether they were a good match for my personal situation.
The weekly coursework was a useful way to add to my financial knowledge over time, each week building on the last until I felt that I had a good grasp of how to evaluate my financial goals and situation. I also found the group discussions useful as a way to double-check and cement my understanding of the material.
I would recommend this course to anyone looking to empower themselves to take charge of their own journey to retirement!"

"My sister and I had the privilege of taking Alexis's personal finance class, and I can confidently say that it has been a fantastic experience for me and my family. Alexis has a knack for simplifying financial concepts and making them easier to understand. She also took the time to make sure we had all of our questions answered. After this class, I can better manage and understand my retirement goals/personal finances."

"I took Alexis's retirement class already feeling like I had a fairly good grasp on the fundamentals, but I was pleasantly surprised to realize that there was still much more to learn, things that hadn't been covered in any of the other classes I've taken or in any of the personal finance books I've read. And those lessons are crucial for saving successfully!

Another pleasant surprise was that, even when the class was going over topics I was already familiar with, there were always interesting details I wasn't aware of, and Alexis kept the content engaging, regardless of skill level. I felt very comfortable asking questions, and I learned a ton from the class."

"I had never really considered the question: How much money do I need in order to comfortably retire? Like many Americans, I just saved as much as I could and hoped that it would be enough. Alexis gave me a sense of agency over my financial health by providing useful frameworks, readings, and calculators that I can reference throughout my working life and beyond."

"I really appreciated the knowledge and support that I gained from Alexis's retirement education course and subsequent support group. I thought it was too early for me to think about retirement, but I found that learning with others helped me to think about the future and my finances differently. I have a better understanding of how to set goals for myself, even if they are modest ones now, to help prepare for a bigger life plans. I can see my financial future as a journey and not a destination. I'm glad I spent this time with Alexis to learn not to be so intimidated about planning for retirement."

"While I'm great at saving, I've always been embarrassed by my scant knowledge of finances and retirement. Alexis' class broke down financial concepts in a way that was easy to understand and memorable. I was able to take what I learned and apply it to my current situation. I was impressed with Alexis' expertise and thoroughness."

"Before joining a22's class, I often found the concept of financial planning both confusing and tedious. I had this looming sense of being behind in savings and, therefore, ended up procrastinating.
However, the course was a non intimidating way to educate myself on the basics of retirement planning and beyond. Instead of the expected intimidating content, I found it to be engaging and insightful. It wasn't just the elementary information you could glean from a blog; it went deeper into explaining those default financial planning numbers (that you might see in an online retirement calculator) and whether they are right for your goals.
The most helpful part of the class for me was actually doing the mathematical and emotional homework with my own finances which gave me the outline of a financial plan by the end of the class. The class urged me to envision my retirement goals and calculate the funds they'd necessitate.
This led to some profoundly meaningful conversations with my partner, ones we'd never broached before. Forecasting the future is challenging, but thanks to this process, I've realized the significance of continuous engagement in these conversations.

The course changed my perception from dreading finances to feeling enthusiastic and optimistic about them. I now enjoy a sense of freedom and reduced guilt around spending (because I have a plan!). For those hesitating on the cusp of financial clarity, I wholeheartedly recommend this course."

"Taking Alexis' Financial Independence class gave me concrete practices to finally feel comfortable with my financial situation as a working professional who had been saving for years. We logged into our (often long-neglected) investment accounts and assessed our allocations. We read retirement planning and calculated our preparedness for retirement around our specific numbers. I really appreciated the hands-on, specific assignments we completed, as well as the camaraderie and support our group naturally shared."

"Alexis not only has a great wealth of knowledge but a passion for sharing it. It's apparent that she takes great joy and pride in helping others find the confidence and understanding to manage their finances. I had little to no confidence or understanding in my finances for most of my life well into adulthood. Alexis gave me the knowledge base as well as confidence to start taking control on my financial situation! She is a great resource who I would highly recommend to anyone!"

"I've always considered myself good with money, but Alexis's class gave me an even deeper understanding of my personal finances. I now know what my annual budget needs to be in order to retire early with peace of mind."

"Alexis brought together an incredible group of women-identified folks that felt inclusive and supportive. We learned the basics of investing, saving, and planning for retirement. I loved getting together and hearing about how other women saved and managed their finances. We're conditioned to be tight-lipped about money and this experience encouraged us to shared our financial experiences and hardships without judgement and shame."

"I recently took the financial independence / retirement course and greatly enjoyed it. It allowed me to learn new financial concepts in a structured, paced manner, with weekly virtual sessions and (reasonable) homework in between. The course was accessible both to complete novices as well as advanced learners. Most importantly, I appreciated that this course wasn’t just a “could have learned that in a book” class but was tailored towards understanding one’s own money situation and finances better. It challenged participants to better define their money goals and execute on their plans. I especially enjoyed completing financial calculations in class and as homework to gain a deeper understanding of my own personal situation. Alexis is a positive, friendly, and knowledgeable teacher who strives to keep the group engage, the class goal-focused, and everyone included."

"Alexis is a gifted teacher and her course is designed for individuals with all levels of financial literacy as she fosters differentiated instruction to support each student’s personalized learning and growth. In her course, students can expect to find a supportive and inclusive community, insightful discussion, and fundamental knowledge that is both practical and exploratory. Whether it is planning for now or the future, Alexis makes what can be a stressful topic both accessible and fun. I can’t recommend this course enough and Alexis’s expertise and insight."

"I was looking forward to taking this course, and it did not disappoint. I went in nervous that I was doing it all wrong, and left the course with a lot more confidence about how I was managing my retirement savings. Alexis also provided a lot of interesting strategies about how to manage my savings that I wouldn't have known or thought of on my own. I've always more-or-less passively managed my retirement savings, but with the knowledge that I gained from this course I feel more capable of diving into it and understanding how and why and what to do going forward."
